MENOPAUSE ANYONE?

Within a decade 50 million American women will be in menopause. WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?

Does it mean 50 million hot flashing, night sweating, depressed, sleep deprived, headache proned, heart palpitating, emotional , dizzy, dry eyed, burning mouthed, anxious, fearful, extremely nervous, oversensitive, irritable, grieving, crying woman? OH NO, NOT THAT!

When I read The Silent Passage : Menopause by Gail Sheehy the past attitudes concerning menopause were detailed. Basically, no one wanted to think, never mind talk about "The Change". I asked Mom what sort of symptoms she had during menopause and she replied, "None that I recall."

Asking my younger sister the same question concerning Mom and the reply was, "OH, MAN, was she crazy!" (I had already left the nest and did not ever think about Mom and menopause in the same thought, until I was in my 40's.)

I went on a quest for answers, detailed answers, about menopause and how best to approach it. Susun Weed answered every question, in a simple, understandable way. Her book is a necessity for EVERY WOMAN REGARDLESS OF AGE. I have personally given a dozen copies away.

And, do not think that because you are in your early 30's that you are safe. Menopause can start in your 20's!

And, if you are a man...this is a book you will be grateful to have read if you have ever wondered, "Is she crazy or is it just me?" Help your lady by educating yourself about the metamorphous (down to the cells) that you will confront with her.

A friend of mine in the hospital, was reading an article that was detailing symptoms the lady in the next bed was complaining about. "You had better read this," my friend said, passing the magazine to her new acquaintance, who minutes later said with emotion, "You mean to tell me that for the last 8 years with all of the complaints I have taken to these bleeping male doctors and all I have is menopause?!!!!"

She got up, packed, and left. I only hope she eventually found Susun Weeds book.
