QUESTIONS ABOUT DAVID
Every reader of the Holy Bible knows the story of David, the engaging and joyous youth who slew Goliath with a slingshot. He was well
known and liked because of playing the harp and for dancing and singing praises unto the Lord. However, there are other narratives,
history records and versions of escapades of this so called hero which are worth mentioning. All is documented, anyone and everyone
who is interested in study of the biblical events can find it out for themselves.
When David was a youth, at that time Saul was the King of Israel. A very funny and peculiar situation developed. The King had a son Jonathan, who became David's best friend. It made the old King Saul jealous, angry and resentful. He was so obsessed by his loathing and dislike for David, that he, the King Saul, asked his own son Jonathan to help him to kill David. What a mentality for a King….. However, It's in the Book. Please get out your Bibles and read I Samuel 20:27 - it is worth it. You might find it hard to believe, but it is all there. I myself can not understand it, can not believe many things and events within the pages of the Holy Writ.
These few lines, it is just a brief comment about the escapades, immorality and murderous acts of King David.
King Saul had daughters and the name of the younger one was Michal. She did love David and it made the King Saul extremely happy. As we know he despised and detested David and there was to be a battle with the Philistines. Saul was sure that David would be killed. As a dowry for Michal's hand, David was asked to slay 100 Philistines and as proof that this action took place, the King wanted David to bring 100 of their foreskins, as a trophy. So David, the youth who used to sing and dance for the Lord, eagerly departed to face the enemy. And being desirous to please his future Father-in-law, David industriously and eagerly slew not one hundred Philistines as the King wanted, but doubled the number. He did put to death 200 fighting men. His next important assignment was right then and there on the battlefield to circumcise the corpses, still warm. Can we imagine anything more disgusting, macabre, horrible gruesome and ghastly? Just let us picture David and his men performing necrophilic circumcision on the lifeless, still warm bodies
There was a comment by Voltaire, who, after reading this informative passage in the Holy Bible, (which was supposed to be dictated by God Himself) remarked, that Michal might have been given her dowry in the form of foreskin necklace.
Let us resume our quest for the TRUTH.
Time passed, David's second wife was the spouse of Nabal. So David eager as usual, obeying his ardor and strong desire of bodily appetites, decided to send 400 men to kill him, i.e. to kill Nabal. However, this time he did not need to have bothered as he had help from above. His associate and collaborator in villainous crimes "God", did it for him. (God of the Bible that is.) His third wife Bathsheba, also was married. So her husband was sent to battle, front line, and was conveniently disposed of. There is much more to this story, please read it……
Hollywood made a love story about this alliance, but of course, they did not reveal what actually happened. It is all in the Book. All documented. And please dear Reader, do not read the Bible only, but also the works of the writers and penmen of that era. It is all at your fingertips in any public library.
Let us continue with David, the beloved one of the Lord.
Time passed on, and David was old and "gat no heat" - King James version I Kings 1:1 So they tried to re-kindle his love for life, and brought him a young virgin to cherish him, to nurse him and to serve him that he might get heat. She tried to do her best, but the King David knew her not. By now he was too old, and as the Bible says, "gat no heat"
In those days it was the custom that if the King could not perform sexually, he had to abdicate. So David had to vacate the throne and his son Solomon was anointed as King. As we all know, Solomon was known for his wisdom, intelligence and was supposed to have brains. His first act of wisdom was to kill his own brother Adonijah, because his brother committed the crime by falling in love with Abishag, the unfortunate maiden who failed to arouse David, who as we know by now, "gat no heat"
The New Testament informs us, that Jesus was from the lineage of David. Writers of those epistles must have been more impressed by David's fame, glory, and prominence, than his true character.
So King David, the former joyous youth playing harp, singing songs and praises unto the Lord, in TRUTH, had many wives, concubines, committed murders by the thousands, was just a plain bum, yet he was chosen the one of God's favorites.
The God of the Bible must have been truly desperate to pick this one.
Thank you for reading these few lines Respectfully
