Five
String Productions -
In Loving Memory
by George Massey
Jaijai Jackson is both the daughter of late great jazz bassist, bandleader and TV personality Chubby Jackson and the President of Five String Productions.
Jaijai said, "It is my joy to launch a company dedicated to one of the greatest fathers a child could have. She went on to say, "My father was an originator, not an imitator."
For myself, I had the pleasure of doing an interview with Chubby, a few years ago. He was, as always, a delight.
Jaijai
states, that her dad displayed humor in his performances. No question about
it. So, it was out of admiration for her father and his many accomplishments,
that Five String has been created.
Its mission is to keep jazz
alive through all forms of media and presentation and really all genres of music.
The keys are education, event coordination, staging and video productions, artist management, music wellness, and the publishing merchandising of musical intellectual properties.
Jazz history, those who paved the way for the present, and the now leaders, who are paving the way for the next generations, all keep jazz alive, creative, and vibrant.
Five String will do all of this, by bringing jazz performers to do concerts
,clinics and the like. Open to the public, they will incorporate all styles
of music, integrated with America's only true art form, jazz, i.e.hip hop, pop,
funk and gospel.

Based
on the long standing personal and professional relationship between Chubby Jackson
and Buddy Rich, and their families, Five String
has aligned itself with Cathy Rich, Buddy's daughter, of Scabeba Entertainment.
Utilizing the Buddy Rich band and it's form for these type of productions.
Jaijai says, "The encompassing
of all styles, is the quest to prove that when musical styles are combined in
performances, it demonstrates that
music is truly a universal language."
This
idea will be spring boarded by producing a "musician's studio" type
tv show, hosted by musical personalities. Interviews will be held, and it will
be distributed at home and abroad.
Also, Jaijai Jackson and
Cathy Rich who both sang in the group ZEE, featured with the Buddy Rich band,
are currently penning a book
entitled "A Tale Of Two Fathers", from their growing up with
two legends, telling of personal stories, to their own experiences in music.
A compilation CD is being produced of special videos, pictures, memorabilia,
and music never heard or seen before.
As Jaijai says, "This inside scoop is only something a family could share!"
You know, speaking of Buddy
as a drummer, I can relate to this
statement made by Louie Bellson, and it is so true. Louie said, "There
are many good drummers, some great ones, and then there was Buddy Rich."
Louie is a great drummer himself.
Five String is looking for musicians, dancers , solos or ensembles, representing Chubby and Buddy's spirit in performance to tour across the world. Five String will promote music wellness, bring shows to nursing homes, retirement homes, hospitals, etc.
Jaijai says, "Music can be therapeutic, spirit soothing, joyful and fun."
Jaijai sums up, "We are just one voice in the mix of life, but we want to help make a difference just like Chubby and Buddy did!
Let
me sum up by saying, I wish my friend Jaijai Jackson and Cathy Rich all the
very best with Five String Productions, and to thank my friend Nancy Hopkins,
for her web site. May Five String have no boundaries, only to surpass your wildest
expectations.
