Great Buffalo grazed on the grasses until he was full. He looked toward the tall tree in the distance and started out. It was just after midday when he arrived at the base of Great Tree. "With great reverence, I ask that you welcome me into your Forest," Great Buffalo repeated the words his father had taught him, on the Vision Quest. And then he patiently waited. His Father had said the words and then whispered to Young Buck, "You must wait to hear Great Tree reply. Tree People speak very, very slowly. They teach patience."

"Welcome back, Young Buck," Great Buffalo heard the words in his mind. Ears are not used in hearing the thoughts of Tree People. "I am surprised you recognize me, Revered One." "The Crows and other Bird People have been telling the Forest of your odyssey. And, yes you are welcome by all the Tree People." Great Buffalo became aware of the essence of the many versions of "tree", seemingly looking at him. He became aware of a unified feeling to the Tree People. Somehow they were all attached, all one. Different versions of the same Spirit. Great Buffalo asked, "Great Tree, do the Tree People believe in a being called God or the First Source? A being whose very thoughts turn into something real?" The words took a long time, before they flooded the buffalo's mind. "Yes. We know there is some source of life to which we owe our existence. We call this source Mother Earth. Yes, we think of ourselves as manifestations of Mother Earth's thoughts." |
| A
small bush with lovely flowers covering it, suddenly chimed in, "With
do respect, my most loved cousin, Great Buffalo needs to have a full understanding
of our world, before he begins to alter his own world. If we wait for
your astute explanation, Great Buffalo will not get any further today."
And, indeed, Great Buffalo realized Bush's words were flooding his mind at a much faster rate than Great Tree. Silence fell as Bush awaited Great Tree's acknowledgment with a, "So be it." Great Buffalo stood very still while a choir of soundless voices filled his mind. He realized each flower on Bush and the bush itself were taking turns telling him how Life began for the Tree Nation. The buffalo could see what they were explaining. He could see the Creation Story the Tree People believed in. |

From out of the Great Void came the need to embrace movement. It was a longing to move away from the stationary, static form of existence where everything is known and everything is possible. With just the beginning of a thought, the Great Void would begin creating. There was no fear, nor hunger, nor thirst. Nor was there a reason for being. Something was missing. Existence for the pure sake of existence was, well, rather boring. And this longing for something more than perfect existence moved the Great Void into creating another world all together.
Pockets of energy began swirling from within and then moved as threads of energy, beyond the Great Void, breaking the link binding them to the confines of the Void. These threads of energy began swirling in their own self-imposed exiles beyond the Great Void, within the borders of the Nothing Place.
Within one of those energy threads, particles of energies began attracting each other, coming closer together, melding into a dancing swirl of movement. It was the dance of creation. It was a dance that no one could see. The threads of energy and the swirling dance of energy particles were all just movement through the Nothing Place. But, as the dancing particles attracted more and more energy from the thread, the thread itself disappeared into the swirling vortex of a Black Hole.
When the last particle of thread was digested by the Black Hole, there was nothing left to consume, leaving a vacuum of nothingness on the outside of the Black Hole. In such an unbalanced environment, movement began again from the inside to the outside.
In a flash, particles from within the Black Hole began flying together, compressed into vast swirls of gasses, that were thrown out from the hole into the vacuum beyond its outer reach. Creation of the Physical Universe had begun in one grand Big Bang.
As the swirling gasses moved away from the central point, they began a course that would keep them circling the Black Hole. This was the very beginning of the Galaxy. It was a Black Hole surrounded by pockets of gasses rotating around it. After a while, the Black Hole energy was balanced by the weight of the rotating gasses. The Galaxy was balanced.
The gasses began slowing their individual spiraling dances. As they slowed, the particles of gasses began falling toward a central point. In some of the largest pockets of moving gasses, the central points became so compressed from the gasses above them, that they erupted into self-perpetuating balls of fire. Suns were being born in every section of the Galaxy. Light had cut the darkness of the Nothing Place.
The smaller swirls of gasses did not erupt into fire and light. Instead, they merged to create spheres of heavy gasses or liquid metals. Spheres of solidifying gasses began revolving around its closest sun. Solar Systems were born in every section of the Galaxy.
The thing is, along the way, many decisions were made. The first impulse for movement that drove the thread of energy out of the Great Void into the Nothing Place had been a decision. It was a decision based upon the desire to experience something more. The fragmentation of the energy thread into particles of energy was a decision to experience everything at once. The movement toward the spiraling Black Hole was a decision to experience unification of individual particles in a form beyond the Thread. But, there was no decision in expelling the Galaxy from the Black Hole. That was a simple outcome of having nothing on one side of everything. There can be no vacuums in existence. The All-That-Is must be in a state of balance. And, the only place of perfect balance is in the Great Void. Beyond that perfect place, there is only continual movement toward and away from perfect balance.
One of the spheres of liquid metal, in one of the Solar Systems, made another decision. Having experienced the state of gas and liquid metal, the sphere chose to experience more. Taking pieces of itself to give birth to another form, Mother Earth gave birth to a level of consciousness contained within the Stone People. Mother Earth created beings called Ruby, Emerald, Diamond, Sapphire, Onyx, Lapis, Bloodstone, Moonstone, Malachite, Opal, and a thousand other, individual consciousness within the Mineral Kingdom. The Ruby was aware of being a ruby, because of its complex and totally unique mixture of energies. And, so it was with each and every one of the Stone People: each obtained a conscious awareness of its own unique energy field.
The liquid, revolving sphere was slowing its spin. In creating the Stone People, Mother Earth had become a molten ball with a hard outer coat. Fires from below pushed molten magna which split the crust, causing volcanic mountains to grow and belch smoke. The smoke spread out and became a thick atmosphere of tiny particles. The fast moving particles banged into each other and the motion caused a change in the energy field, resulting in an explosion of lightening, as nature tried to regain balance.
The lightening aided in altering the atmosphere, until clouds came together to create rain. In addition to the experiences of stone, rock, and earth, Mother Earth experienced the consciousness of wind, air, and water. For a very long time, this was All-That-Is.
And, then again, needing to expand its own consciousness, Mother Earth began further experimenting with different physical forms and the consciousness that could be experienced. The spiral of quartz had been the most perfect expression of the Mineral Kingdom. Mother Earth chose it as the blueprint for the next evolution in consciousness development. First one cell of biological matter evolved from mud attached to a molecule of quartz. Mother Earth grew that first cell, into a duplicate, and the first biological life came into being.
In a frenzy of growth and creation, Mother Earth brought into existence the Vegetable Kingdom. The Tree People, from the smallest shrub to the tallest tree, with flowers and nuts and berries began experiencing existence. A new level of consciousness had arrived embracing the concept of growth. From a seed comes a bush, which grows a flower, which produces a seed. A circle of never-ending life.
The next level of existence was to have movement. Animals which could move to different locations began the next phase of creation by Mother Earth. The possibilities were immense. Fish of every sort, reptiles and bugs and four legged animals took millions of forms. And that was where Mother Earth had stopped.
Great Buffalo was stunned by the Creation Story weaved by the flowers and the shrub that gave them life. He had never given the Beginning much thought. He had always been aware of just the Present. It was only in the last few hours that he really thought about the Future. Rabbit's fear of a possible Future, had made Great Buffalo reconsider creating a Superior Being. And, now Great Buffalo had been introduced to two Superior Beings in the same day. There was Rabbit's God and the Tree People's Mother Earth. Silently, Great Buffalo thought, "What kind of Superior Being could I create?"
The Forest answered Great Buffalo's silent question by filling his mind with, "The next phase of consciousness."
Aloud Great Buffalo asked, "What would that be?"
"Mother Earth keeps creating to experience higher levels of consciousness. She has created a vast variety of life. Yet, each and every being from Stone People to Buffalo knows only what it is like to be themselves. The tree only knows what it is like to be Tree. The fish knows only what it is to be a fish. The stone can only comprehend being a stone. Dog only knows what it is like to be a wolf. And, you only understand the life of a buffalo.
"You wish to create a being capable of dreaming while awake. Such a being could develop a consciousness that could dream what it is like to be a tree, a stone, a fish, a wolf, and even a buffalo. Mother may need you to help her create a being who could imagine what it is like to be anything and everything."

Great Buffalo felt he could not breath, never mind think. He thanked the flowers, bush, and Great Tree for their enlightenment of him. He felt humble and no longer "Great". His world had grown greatly since Hawk had killed the bird, and set the buffalo in search of a reason for being.
