Crow had flown off. Dog and Great Buffalo were making good time and were passing through an opening between the trees. The wolf asked, "So what is happening, Old Friend?"

Great Buffalo explained his quest to create a being that could dream while being awake. Dog thought it was a crazy idea.

Just as he began explaining why, Wolf saw Rabbit and the chase was on.

Young Buck came crashing back into Great Buffalo's Present. The images of the wolf pack chasing down the deer and its killing, had stunned the young buffalo's mind. He could not understand how the wolf family he loved could turn so vicious, in a seeming instant of time.

Great Buffalo turned away and began occupying himself with munching on the grass. He had lost track of time, when Rabbit was suddenly right in front of him.

"What happened to Wolf?" Great Buffalo wondered aloud.

"I jumped, I hopped, I outran him. I flew into my hole and ran to the back end. I watched him digging at the front door. Without his pack of wolves, he alone is weak and easily fooled. He is still hunting."

"Rather proud of yourself, aren't you?" Great Buffalo noted.

"Yes, of course. I am cunning, fast and agile. But, I did not come here to brag about myself. I heard your conversation with Snake. I am here to warn you what a dangerous thing would be, this Superior Being. A being that can dream while awake could destroy All-That-Is."

Great Buffalo laughed, "How can you say such a thing?"

"Just think it through. What if the Superior Being decided there was no God?"

"What do you mean by God?"

Rabbit was agitated and kept looking around for the wolf, who could return at any time. Rabbit explained, "God is the First Source. God is a being who can simply think and whatever is thought becomes an instantaneous reality. We are all a manifestation of God's thoughts. God did not create your Superior Being. It is you that wants to create a being that can dream while awake. And, as everyone knows, dreams create the Future. This being could control the Future. What if the Superior Being decided that God did not exist. If the Future was shaped to reflect this, all that went before would cease to exist. Without God - the First Source - there is only the Nothing Place. All would be lost, " Rabbit moaned.

"Wow, hold on. Rabbit, you are always afraid of everything. You are known to be the carrier of Fear."

"Yes, that is true. But it is my fear that keeps me alive. It is my fear that has me build a front and a back door to my lair. Fear keeps my world going. If you are really going to go through with this dangerous idea of yours, promise me you will put fear in this Superior Being. Fear of the Future will cause the Superior Being to be very careful. Promise, Sir, you will make sure the Superior Being fears and respects God. They must not question the existence of God. Make sure they are fearful of destroying God. Promise. Please, promise. You see, Sir, my greatest fear is that of the Nothing Place."

"What is in the Nothing Place?"

Rabbit was standing straight up, looking toward the distance where Dog was just coming into view. "There is nothing in the Nothing Place. Not a buffalo, not a wolf, not a rabbit, not a bird, not a wind, nor fire, nor water, nor air, nor sun, nor moon, nor spark of light. There is nothing at all in the Nothing Place. It is the only place in the All-That-Is where God is not. Promise they will be fearful," Rabbit screamed over his shoulder as he ran in fear of the wolf.

A few minutes later, Dog had arrived to announce, "I think I should go on ahead. The Pack will be worried. This way my family can eat and be prepared to meet my Young Buck. You remember the way? Just keep walking toward the tall trees. I will find you before the sun goes down. Later," and Dog was turned around an running toward the North and higher ground.
